Rizepor:1 Beşiktaş:0

Rizespor claimed a 1-0 victory over visiting Beşiktaş in the first leg of Fortis Turkish Cup quarter finals.

The match refereed by Bünyamin Gezer was played in front of a vocal Beşiktaş crowd who would not leave their favorite team alone in this difficult cup tie. Following an early stretch which saw teams battling it out in midfield, the Black and Whites put their foot down on the pressure pedal and pinned Rizespor in their own half. Bobo, Nobre and Holosko came close to scoring on three different occasions but couldn’t find the net. Beşiktaş almost took the lead in the 40th minute with Nobre’s goal, but it was disallowed because of an offside call by referee Bünyamin Gezer. Since neither team was able to break the deadlock, the first half ended in a scoreless tie.
Our Black and Whites increased their pressure in the second half to get that valuable away goal while a crowded Rizespor defense desperately tried to keep the ball away from their own box. But after Beşiktaş brought in Aydın Karabulut for Bobo, a 75th minute Anderson goal put the home side ahead, 1-0, following a sudden Rizespor counter attack. The home team was reduced to 10 men when Sedat received his second yellow card with 5 minutes left to play in regulation time. The late substitution of Batuhan for Cisse did not change anything, as Beşiktaş suffered a 1-0 first leg defeat. The second leg will be played at BJK Inönü Stadium on February 27.
