Karşıyaka:99 Beşiktaş Cola Turka:90

Our visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team suffered a 99-90 defeat at the hands of Karşıyaka in the 17th week of the BEKO Basketball League.

The game started in a tight-fashion with teams trading baskets in the early going. While Pınar Karşıyaka tried to pull away with Hosley and Marshall, Apodaca and Shumpert kept our Beşitaş Cola Turka within reach. The teams passed the 4th-minute mark with the home team holding onto a slim 12-11 lead. From that moment on, Neal, Marshall and Hosley, the 3 American players of the home team teamed up to increase the lead, but Shumpert and Drobnjac prevented Karşıyaka from widening the gap any further. Nevertheless, the home team was up 26-23 at the end of the opening quarter.
Pınar Karşıyaka came out strong in the second and stretched its lead to 11 points, 45-34, midway through the quarter on back-to-back baskets by Hosley and Marshall. Unable to match Asım’s superior rebounding, Black and Whites trailed 62-44 going into halftime break.
Barış and Asım made a pair of buckets for the hosts to open the second half, and Pınar Karşıyaka led 67-53 at the 24-minute mark of the game. But Beşiktaş Cola Turka finally shook off its boring image and rallied to cut the deficit to 10 points, 67-57, behind baskets by Dalmau and Shumpert forcing a Karşıyaka timeout. After the timeout, the home team picked up where they left off and marched out to rebuild their 18-point lead at 79-61 entering the final minute behind consecutive threes from Marshall and Hosley.
In the dying seconds, Karşıyaka answered Cevher’s long range three-pointer with a lay-up by Neal and took a rather comfortable 83-65 cushion into the final quarter.
Despite facing an insurmountable deficit, Black and Whites refused to surrender and put together a 12-1 run to narrow the gap to 9 points, 84-75, midway through the fourth that forced another Karşıyaka timeout. But the home team found its rhythm quickly as Barış’s three-pointer interrupted Beşiktaş Cola Turka’s streak and maintained its lead for good en route to a 99-90 victory.
