Following Beşiktaş’s 4-2 victory over Kasımpaşa our Technical Director, Ertuğrul Sağlam made these comments regarding the match:

“We usually have a 4-men defense. But since Ali Tandoğan, Baki Mercimek, Serdar Kurtuluş and Gökhan were not in our starting line-up tonight, we decided to turn to a 3-men defense against Kasımpaşa’s 1-man front line. We played with this tactic from time to time but made a lot of defensive errors. Unfortunately, the same things happened in this game once more, and we fell behind 2-0. We have to find a way to overcome our defensive woes and shouldn’t give away so many easy goals. If our opponents score against us, they must earn that goal. We have to sort out our defensive problems. Everyone needs remember that this is a team sport and a goal cannot be blamed on single player. If we let in an easy goal, it is the fault of the whole team, so we must be more careful when playing defense. Defensive concentration is vital because you cannot win games only by scoring goals. If we want to achieve our aims, addition to an effective offense, we must also have a solid defense. But changing old habits always takes time. Nevertheless, despite early troubles, we managed to crawl back from a two-goal deficit and win this game. And this is also a definitely hard thing to do.”
