Following Beşiktaş’s cup tie against Ankaragücü that ended in a 1-1 draw, our Technical Director, Ertuğrul Sağlam made these remarks regarding the match:

“Our final standing in the Fortis Turkish Cup will come to a true picture after next week’s games. We are going to sit and wait.  Ç.Rizespor will meet Ankaragücü. If  Ankaragücü wins, we’ll qualify for the next round . If Rizespor wins, Ankaraspor has to beat Diyarbakıspor with a 6 goal margin to get qualified because we have a plus 5 goal average. We were hoping to win our game here today and not rely on others but the pitch was terrible. You cannot talk about the quality football, tactical variations or system when you are playing on this kind of pitch. The team which managed to stay on its feet would make fewer mistakes. If any footballer falls hard on this pitch, it can even cause some dangerous injuries. We still managed to create some chances but ended up in tie.”
