Ankaragücü:1 Beşiktaş:1

Our Football Team was held to a 1-1 draw by Ankaragücü in its last Fortis Turkish Cup Group A game. Following Bobo’s 52nd minute goal, Baki Mercimek was sent off in the 79th minute after receiving his second yellow card.

The game, refereed by Yunus Yıldırım took place at Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium in harsh weather and pitch conditions. Our devoted fans did not let Beşiktaş walk alone in this crucial cup tie and cheered their team on throughout the 90 minutes.
Following Ankaragücü’s kick-off, the match turned into a typical midfield struggle in the early going with neither team gaining the upper hand. Both teams had trouble at controlling the ball and created few chances due to an icy pitch. Beşiktaş made a forced substitution in the 30th minute and brought in İbrahim Kaş for Serdar Özkan. After a 39th minute Nobre header went just past the post, Gökhan pulled Ankaragücü ahead in the 40th minute during a fast counterattack Since the teams were unable to change the score in the remaining minutes, the home side carried a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Beşiktaş pressed hard for an equalizer in the second half and its effort paid off when Bobo redirected Tello’s 52nd minute free-kick into Ankaragücü net and made it 1-1 during a goal-line scrimmage. After Holosko replaced Nobre as a 67th- minute substitute, Baki Mercimek received a red card in the 79th minute and Black and Whites were reduced to 10 men. Beşiktaş technical staff sent in Aydın Karabulut for Delgado with two minutes left to play but this move didn’t change anything as the game ended in 1-1 draw.
With this result, Beşiktaş completed its group phase with 7 points total and plus 5 goal average. There are two more cup ties set to be played on January 23 in this group. While Çaykur Rizespor will take on Ankaragücü at home, Diyarbakır DİSKİ will host Ankaraspor. At present, Beşiktaş sits at top of the group with 7 points followed by Çaykur Rizespor who also has 7 points. Ankaragücü and Ankaraspor have both 4 points each and  Diyarbakır DİSKİ is last with no points at all.
