Elitzur Ramla:82 - Beşiktaş Cola Turka:69

Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team suffered an 82-69 away loss to Israeli Alitzur Ramla in the first leg of FIBA European Cup second round.

The Lady Black and Whites opened the game with Vanessa Hayden’s basket and went on to take a 12-9 edge behind jumpers by Nazlı and Nilay midway through the quarter. Then the two teams kept trading baskets rest of the way, and the home team managed to grab a narrow 22-20 lead at the end of the first quarter.
After Zanze hit a jump shot to open the second quarter and tie the score, the game teetered back and forth with the lead changing hands several times. But consecutive buckets by Lovelace, Nazlı, Nilay and Zanze late in the quarter put Beşiktaş Cola Turka in front, 41-36, before the teams headed to their locker rooms at the half.
Elitzur Ramla came out flying in the second half and scored 6 points within the first two minutes to pull ahead 42-41. But the Lady Black and Whites refused to go away and fought back hard with the help of Hayden’s clutch baskets as the teams went to the final quarter locked in a 57-57 tie.
The early part of the fourth was hotly contested by the both teams. However, as the quarter wore on, despite a huge effort from Hayden and Spiric to keep them in the game, Beşiktaş Cola Turka could not find a way to stop the Israeli team Elitzur Ramla which surged ahead, 73-64, with a string of unanswered points midway through the final quarter and prevailed down the stretch en route to a 82-69 victory that gave them an sizeable advantage before the second leg.
The two teams will meet each other again on Thursday, January 17 in Istanbul to decide the qualifier for the next round.
