Beşiktaş Cola Turka:92 – TTNET Beykoz:81

Our Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball team pulled off a 92-81 victory at BJK Cola Turka Arena in the 14th week of the League.

The game started in a tight fashion with both teams trading baskets in the early going until Kaya Peker, who scored the Black and Whites’ first 6 points, stepped up and tipped the balance in favor of Beşiktaş Cola Turka with consecutive lay-ups. But clutch buckets by hot-shooting Chris from inside and out kept the visitors within reach of their hosts throughout most of the opening quarter. Nevertheless, the Black and Whites managed to surge ahead by as many as 6 in the dying minutes. And then they got hit with two technical fouls and saw the pendulum swing the other way. With Beşiktaş Cola Turka leading 24-18, Gray made all 4 of his free throws from technical fouls called against Kaya Peker and Head Coach, Ergin Ataman to bring Beykoz within 2 in the closing stages. And a last second 3-pointer by Gilbert put the icing on the cake and gave the visitors a 25-24 edge going into second quarter.
The yellow and black team opened the second with a pair of threes and stretched its lead to 7 points, their biggest of the game. But our American player, Shumpert came off the bench when the energy was needed and began draining jumpers from all over the court to help Black and Whites regain the lead. Spurred by a smothering defense, Beşiktaş Cola Turka went on to increase its advantage on a short-lived run triggered by Apodaca midway through the quarter.
But the visitors refused to go away and remained close with Levent Bilgin’s long-range shots. Then the remaining minutes of the half turned into an up and down affair with teams exchanging threes rest of the way. Black and Whites clung to a narrow 48-47 lead before entering their locker room at the half.
The first part of the second half was not much different than the first, but as the quarter progressed, Apodaca, Sinan Güler and Nicevic began to hit high-percentage shots to give their team a double digit lead for the first time in the game. In the latter stages Dalmau and Sinan Güler joined them with a barrage of threes and put Beşiktaş Cola Turka in front for good at 78-60 after three quarters of play.
After Beşiktaş Cola Turka had extended their lead to 20 points on a jumper by Shumpert early in the fourth, the visitors bounced back to slice the deficit to 10 points midway through the final quarter. But Black and Whites refused to get caught and found their game quickly. They regrouped and went on an offensive tear behind fast-breaks down the stretch to grab a 92-81 victory at the final buzzer.
Apodaca ended up being the top scorer for Beşiktaş Cola Turka with 18 points. Shumpert (15), Kaya Peker (12), Dalmau (11), Sinan Güler (11), Nicevic (10), Cevher Özden (5), Drobjnak (4), Mehmet Yağmur (4) and Erkan Veyseloğlu (2) also contributed to Black and Whites’ offensive effort.
