Vestel Manisaspor:1 Beşiktaş:2

Brazilian striker Bobo scored twice to give visiting Beşiktaş a valuable 2-1 victory against Vestel Manisaspor in the 17th and last week of the League before winter break.

The match was played at Manisa 19 Mayıs Stadium and refereed by M. Kamil Abitoğlu. Black and White fans, who didn’t leave Beşiktaş alone in this critical away game, cheered on their team throughout 90 minutes. Beşiktaş laid on the pressure right from the start while its opponents kept their defense tight and relied on counter-attacks. As both sides were trying to gain control in midfield, a 24th minute goal from Uğur put the host team 1-0 in front early in the game. But referee awarded Beşiktaş a penalty kick after Ali Tandoğan was tripped by his opponent inside the box in the 41st minute. Bobo successfully converted the spot- kick and the teams went to their locker room in a 1-1 tie at the half.
Determined to win at all costs, Black and Whites started off the second half without making any substitution. In the 54th minute, Bobo drilled Serdar Özkan’s brilliant pass into Manisa Vestel’s net from a tight angle inside the right side of the box to give his team a 2-1 lead in the game. As the half progressed, Beşiktaş brought in Koray Avcı and Burak Yılmaz for Nobre and Delgado to protect its advantage. Following Baki Ercimek’s entry for injured Koray Avcı in the 80th minute, Black and Whites withstood a late onslaught by their opponents to level the score and secured a precious 2-1 away victory in their last game before entering the midseason break.
