Beşiktaş Cola Turka:64 – Ceyhan Belediyesi:54

Our Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team grabbed an inspring 64 – 54 victory over visiting Ceyhan Belediyesi at BJK Cola Turka Arena in the 7th week of the TBBL.

The Black and Whites opened the quarter with Spiric’s basket but had trouble playing good defense as they watched their opponents match them point for point in the early going. But they tightened their defense quickly and began building a lead behind consecutive jumpers by Lovelace. Meanwhile our Ladies’ superior rebounding forced their opponents to take outside shots. The visitors tried trying to trim the deficit with Crystal and Tuğba but could not achieve any score within 8 minutes. Helped by the Lovelace’s hot-hand, Beşiktaş Cola Turka closed out the quarter up 19-9.
The early going of the second quarter was a replica of the first until Ceyhan Belediyesi put together a string of baskets to narrow the gap to 7 points midway through the quarter. Nevertheless, the Black and White team capitalized on its opponent’s defensive lapses and held a 34-26 lead before trotting into the locker room at the half.
Both teams went cold during the early part of the third and scored only 4 points in the first 3 minutes. But a long-range three by the visitors’ Seda ended the draught and sparked an 8-0 run that brought Ceyhan Belediyesi within 2 at 36-34. Unable to answer its opponent’s outside shots, Beşiktaş Cola Turka suddenly had trouble finding the basket and came empty handed from its 4 consecutive scoring attempts. It looked as though Black and Whites would give up the lead, but Lovelace took the center stage once again and hit some big free throws to give her team a 44-41 edge going into the final quarter.
After seeing its 12 point advantage go down the drain, Beşiktaş Cola Turka started off the fourth to protect its slim lead and thanks to Lovelace’s clutch baskets slowly began to pull away from its visitors. Ceyhan Belediyesi relied solely on Crystal’s threes to stay within striking range but still trailed 56-48 with 4 minutes remaining to play. Black and Whites withstood a late rally by their visitors to get back into the game and ran way with a 64-54 victory.

For Beşiktaş Cola Turka, Lovelace finished with a game-high 20 points while Vanessa Hayden chipped in 12. Dilek Ünüvar (11), Nazlı Güler (9), Spiric (7) and Nilay Yiğit (5) also contributed to the Black and Whites’ offensive effort.
