Beşiktaş Cola Turka: 76 – Migros: 65

Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team claimed a 76-65 victory over visiting Migros at BJK Cola Turka Arena in the 5th week of the TBBL.

Helped by Lovelace’s hot hand, Lady Black and Whites got off to a fast start and quickly jumped out to an early lead on consecutive baskets. An excellent defensive performance by Beşiktaş Cola Turka disrupted visitors’ offensive flow most of the quarter, and prevented them from scoring. Back-to-back lay-ups from Hayden triggered a late run that put the Black and White team ahead, 27-15, at the end of the opening quarter.
Turning to its bench for much needed points, Migros came on strong in the second quarter and cut the deficit to 6 in the early going. Supported by high-percentage shots inside and out, the visitors tightened up their defense and withstood all attempts by Beşiktaş Cola Turka to increase the deficit. Unable to get their previously established offensive rhythm going, Lady Black and Whites began wasting their chances generously. As a result, they watched their 13 point lead dwindle to 4 entering into the final minute of the quarter. Nevertheless, last second free throws helped Beşiktaş Cola Turka take a 42-35 lead before heading to their locker room at the half-time break.
Both teams appeared defensive early in the second half as they managed to score a total of only 3 points in the first 3 minutes. While the Black and Whites’ scoring woes continued with Hayden’s missed shots, the visiting Migros took control and began chipping away at the deficit behind a string of consecutive jumpers by Harris. After dominating under the boards, the visitors pulled ahead, 45-44, midway through the third quarter and allowed only 2 points in 8 minutes. Unable to overcome their dry spell, Black and Whites went into final quarter trailing by 53-48.
Beşiktaş Cola Turka finally roared to life in the fourth behind consecutive baskets by Nilay Yiğit and Stacey Lovelace and rallied to trim the deficit. Nilay Yiğit’s free throws restored the home team’s lead at 57-55 midway through the quarter. Migros tried to rally back but couldn’t contain hot shooting Nilay Yiğit who drilled some key shots to prevent visitors getting close. A late run sparked by Lovelace’s baskets put the Black and Whites ahead for good and lifted them to a 76-65 victory over Migros.
Stacey Lovelace finished with the game-high 24 points followed by Nilay Yiğit who chipped in 19. Venessa Hayden (14), Nazlı Güler (7), Dilek Ünüvar (5), Seda Erdoğan (4) and Esra Erden (3) were the other scorers for the
