“Too Hard to Beat Us at Inönü”

After Beşiktaş’s 2-1 Champions League win over Marseille, our General Manager Sinan Engin thanked our fans for their tremendous  support during the game and said, “they are unbelievable, with their support it is too hard beat us at İnönü.”

Sinan Engin went on to make these comments regarding the game:
“We have received some poor results that saddened all of us recently. But leaving aside our once-in-a-life-time game against Liverpool, the game we regret the most has to be our loss against Porto. I hope all our fans remember how we lost that game. If we had won that game, we would have 9 points right now; enough to qualify for the next round. I am sure we are playing in one of the most difficult Champions League Groups and the teams’ total points prove my point of view. Our game in Liverpool must be regarded an accident along the way. They are an exceptionally strong side and they proved it by scoring 4 goals against Porto tonight.
Both teams fought hard on the field in our game. Marseille is also a powerful team but we showed them what Beşiktaş players could if they truly believed in themselves. We could have wrapped up the game in the first half but missed our chances. We will now play a real final against Porto. We want to win that game in Portugal and qualify from this group. Depending on the other game’s result we may even end up becoming a group leader. Tonight’s victory has now changed the odds in our favor and we intend to take advantage of it. I congratulate each and every one our player on their valiant effort.
When we play at home we always get an extraordinary fan support. They boost our morale and give us confidence just like a 12th player on the pitch. That’s exactly what happened here at İnönü tonight. With that kind of support we are unbeatable here. They are truly fantastic.”
