Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team posted its fourth ULEP Cup win in as many games. Black and Whites hosted Portuguese representative Ovarense Aerosoles at BJK Cola Turka Arena and cruised to a comfortable 100-74 win
Beşiktaş Cola Turka came in on a roll and quickly jumped ahead of its opponent with consecutive baskets. Jumpers from Shumpert and Sinan Güler kept the Portuguese team under constant pressure during the rest of the quarter. Meanwhile an outstanding defensive performance by Black and Whites not only limited their opponents to only to 10 first quarter points but also helped them take a hefty 31-10 lead going into second.Keeping a comfortable cushion, Beşiktaş Cola relaxed too early in the second quarter and watched Brown chipping way at the deficit. But,
despite looking a little sloppy under the hoops, our Black and Whites managed to regroup and put together a late rally that gave them a 51-34 edge before heading to their locker room at the break.
Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Team opened the second half on a 7 -0 run in 1 1/2 minutes, and then went on a scoring rampage with Dalmau and Shumpert to see its advantage balloon to 24 points at the 24-minute mark of the game. Our team’s aggressive defense prevented Ovarense from getting close to basket and helped Black Eagles enter the final two minutes with an insurmountable 30 point lead. Black and Whites led by 79-52 after three quarters of play and never looked back. .
Dominating the game from its start, Beşiktaş Cola Turka had no trouble getting shots from inside and out during the final quarter and held an 84-67 edge with 5 minutes to play. With 4 players now in double figures, Black and Whites made a last charge to take the score into triple figures and succeeded in doing so on Murat Güler’s jump shot with 2 seconds to go. Beşiktaş Cola Turka ran way with a lopsided 100-74 victory and remained unbeaten after 4 ULEP Cup games.
Top scorer for the Black Eagles was Dalmau with 24 points, while Shumpert and Kaya Peker netted 19 and 13 points respectively. Sinan Güler (12), Nicevic (10), Erkan Veyseloğu (5), Özer (5) Apodaca (4), Mehmet Yağmur (4), Onur Aydın (2) and Eren Beyaz (2) also chipped in for the victors.
