Visiting Beşiktaş Professional Football Team defeated Gençlerbirliği Oftaşspor 1-0 on a 35th minute goal by Striker Bobo in the 13th week of Turkcell Super League.
After the completion of the break given for EURO 2008 qualifying matches, Beşiktaş visited capital city for a 13th week away game against Gençlerbirliği Oftaşspor. The game refereed by Halis Özkaya was played in front of large Beşiktaş crowd who provided non-stop cheering throughout the 90 minutes. The opening minutes of the game displayed a typical midfield struggle with neither side looking particularly sharp. But, as the half progressed, a series of accurate passes helped Black and Whites gain the upper hand while their opponents preferred to remain on the defensive. As a result, Bobo took a perfect long pass from Tello and put Beşiktaş ahead, 1-0 in the 35th minute before the teams headed to their locker rooms at the half.
Beşiktaş started off the second half without making any substitution and applied pressure in all areas of the pitch to preserve its one goal advantage. İbrahim Akın came on for Tello in the 61st minute. Thanks to an extremely well organized defense, Black and Whites refused to get caught and managed to shutdown their hosts’ futile attempts to score. Beşiktaş’s late substitutions of Ricardinho and Burak Yılmaz for Hiquain and Bobo did not change the course of the game and visiting Black and Whites ran out 1-0 victors to record a valuable away win.
