Our Technical Director Ertuğrul Sağlam made these comments regarding Beşiktaş’s game against Sivasspor: 

‘‘We knew that psychological factors arising from our recent loss to Liverpool would affect my players’ performance on the field tonight. That’s the reason we worked hard on them before the match.  Tonight’s game would be a good opportunity to relieve the pain and get back on the right track. We got off to a good start and scored our goal. We also did a great job of limiting our opponents scoring chances. We managed to carry this positive momentum into second half. But after being reduced to 10 men, we got tired and lost our effectiveness. While we started to take risks to regain the dominance of the game, we saw the ball coming off a controversial position in our net.
Any kind of win tonight would restore our morale and mend some fences.  It would also help us heal our wounds. Now, the only thing left us to do is to pull ourselves together and get ready for the next 15 days. We’ve got two Champions League and three league matches to play during this short span. We must be sharp and ready for all of them. 
These upcoming 5 matches are very crucial in our race for the top spot. My players’ quality is perfectly capable of meeting all these challenge. We now know our shortcomings and the ways to improve them. The recent games have been a good experience for us.
In fact, we have seen some signs of it before and after our goal. Their enthusiasm and desire were quite promising. Their hard work should’ve been rewarded with a win but I am sure we will makeup for this loss in our future games. Now we must get our act together and move on.
I didn’t come here to create miracles within 3-4 months. It takes time to build a champion. When we analyze our present performance we can see our shortcomings. We are waiting for the midseason break to make some changes. We will take all necessary steps to create a Beşiktaş team everybody enjoys watching on the field.’’
