Beşiktaş Cola Turka:94 ZKK Vojvodina:65

In their first match in their Eurocup group that took place at the BJK Akatlar Cola Turka Arena, the Beşiktaş Cola Turka women’s basketball team came away with a victory over their Serbian guests, Vojvodina, by a score of 94 to 65.

Zanze, Nilay Yiğit, Seda Erdoğan, Lovelace and Hayden were starters for the black and whites and scored the first points of the game.  The first-class defense of Beşiktaş Cola Turka confounded the other team and Hayden scored easily, putting the home team ahead by 7 points in only three minutes.  Our team’s consistent attacks drove the opponents to make error after error. Our talented ladies scored three-pointers effortlessly and, in the first 6 minutes alone, Beşiktaş Cola Turka had scored 16 points while allowing the Serbs only 4 points.  Lovelace and Hayden continued to score from under the hoop and the first quarter ended with the score standing at 18 – 11. 
In the second quarter, Beşiktaş Cola Turka was even more formidable.  The Serbs were not allowed to score any points at all in the first 4 minutes. The home team‘s offense continued to be very strong.  The Serbian team seemed helpless in the face of Beşiktaş Cola Turka’s commanding lead and consistent goal-scoring and was left behind by a score of 32 – 19 in only 17 minutes.  Going ahead 41 – 23 in the last minute of the second quarter, the black and whites retired jubilantly to their dressing room.
The second half of the match continued with Beşiktaş Cola Turka scoring goals with ease, taking advantage of scoring positions and pulling further ahead of their opponents.  Our ladies’ defense was extremely effective and didn’t have any problems keeping the Serb ladies from mounting an offensive attack or scoring.  By the 26th minute the tally was 30 points in Beşiktaş’s favor (64 – 34).  Resigned to their loss, Vojvodina seemed to realize their fate and the third quarter ended with Beşiktaş Cola Turka ahead, 71 – 42.
Hayden, Lovelace and Seda Erdoğan who had turned the odds in Beşiktaş Cola Turka’s  favor in the first half of the match continued to gain points, raising their scoring averages. In the last quarter, Beşiktaş Cola Turka mounted a strong attack and in the end, Vojvodina ended their adventure in Europe and went down to a decisive defeat. The final score - Beşiktaş Cola Turka 94, Vojvodina 65.
