In the fourth match of the Champions League A Group, played in Liverpool last night, Beşiktaş suffered a decisive 8 – 0  defeat at the hands of the Liverpool team.

German referee Markus Merk officiated at the match, which took place in the Anfield Road Stadium.  Beşiktaş were favorites to win as the match began.  Fans of the Turkish football club were at the match in full force to support the team.  While the Black and Whites chose to play a controlled game, Liverpool put on the pressure early in the encounter and Crouch drew first blood when he scored during the 19th minute, putting Liverpool into the lead, 1 - 0.  After Crouch’s goal was scored our team changed tactics, putting more players in the middle of the field, but again in the 32nd minute, a quick goal by Benayoun, the English team went further ahead,  2 – 0.  The rest of the first half saw Beşiktaş unable to take control of the field or to achieve effective scoring position and they went to the dressing room, outscored 2 – 0, at the end of the first half.
Serdar Özkan was replaced with Ali Tandoğan as the second half began.  In a 53rd minute Liverpool attack, Riise was tripped up by Hakan as he shot , sending the ball into scoring position for Benayoun, who took advantage, increasing Liverpool’s lead to 3 – 0.  A shot by Gerrard rebounded off Hakan in the 56th minute, once again allowing Benayoun a scoring opportunity and the match was 4 – 0.   Beşiktaş footballer Serdar Kurtuluş was replaced by Huguain in minute 62 but the ball went into the Beşiktaş net once again in minute 69, when Gerrard’s shot hit one of the defenders and rebounded past the goalkeeper to bring the score to 5 -0.  In another player substitution, Ricardino was put into the game in place of Mehmet Sedef in the 78th minute.  However, Liverpool scored again in quick succession, with goals in the 79th and 80th minutes by Babel and Crouch respectively, bringing the score to 7 – 0, in favor of Liverpool.  The final goal came in the 89th minute when Crouch scored yet again, resulting in a resounding 8 – 0 victory for the Liverpool team.
