Fenrbahçe: 2 – Beşiktaş: 1, By Refeere’s Decision!

Referee İsmet Arzuman, who had been bombarded with criticism by Fenerbahçe whole week, did exactly the opposite of what was expected of him. He spent extra effort to help home team afloat throughout 90 minutes. And by disallowing a perfectly good goal in injury time handed Beşiktaş its first loss in Kadiköy after nearly 7 years.

All crucial referee calls that went in favor of home side Fenerbahçe spurred a nationwide criticism after the game.
In fact, Black and Whites got off to a great start and jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with Bobo who flicked Delgado’s brilliant pass over the keeper into Fenerbahçe net as early as the 3rd minute. After Diatta came on for injured Gökhan Zan, Fenerbahçe leveled the game thanks to a header from David at the 29-minute mark. Beşiktaş had a flurry of chances during the remaining minutes of the first half but was unable to convert them. Teams headed to their locker rooms in a 1-1 tie at half-time intermission.
During the early part of second half, both teams tried to exert their dominance in midfield without much success. But Fenerbahçe managed to take a 2-1 lead with Semih in the 60th minute. As the game went on, Black and Whites made a tactical switch and brought in Higuain and Batuhan Karadeniz for an equalizer. Black Eagle was on an almost constant attack until the final whistle as they kept wasting golden chances. However, exactly 5 minutes into injury time, substitute Higuain bulleted a diving header from a deep left wing cross into home team’s net but Fenerbahçe’s 12th man on the field quickly cancelled this goal, ruling an earlier foul to Fenerbahçe defender Gökhan. However the replays after the game clearly showed that there was no foul in that position at all. Just like in our previous matches, another legitimate Beşiktaş goal went down the drain once again.
Thanks to this bad call Fenerbahçe walked away with 2-1 victory.
