Beşiktaş:0 - Porto:1

Our Football Team lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Porto in its second game of the Champions League Group A.

The game was played at BJK İnönü Stadium and referred by Pieter Vink from Dutch Football Federation. Our fans filled the stands completely and provided non-stop support to their beloved team with great excitement and enthusiasm throughout 90 minutes.
As expected our Black & Whites were off to a good start and kept the ball under their control during most of the early minutes. While the game was mainly intensified in midfield, both teams tried to stage wing attacks for a quick goal against a powerful opposition. Our Brazilian striker Bobo had to be replaced with Nobre as early as the 27th minute due to an injury. Despite finding some golden opportunities to go ahead, Beşiktaş was unable to change the scoreboard as the teams went to their locker room with a scoreless tie at the half.
In the second half, our Black & Whites continued to display their impressive and fighting performance but faced difficulty in creating scoring changes as often as they did in the first half. As a result of Portuguese visitor’s rough play, Delgado and Nobre sustained serious eyebrow cuts that needed stitches. Meantime, our powerhouse Serdar Kurtuluş had also suffered a knee injury and had to be taken out of the game. Regardless of all these negative factors, Black & Whites kept searching for a late advantage with relentless attacks organized from wings during the most exciting and decisive final 15 minutes. In one of these attacks Argentinean Hiquain tested the Portuguse net from a close range but his hard drive was saved by visiting side’s keeper, Helton on time. Unfortunately, the pendulum of luck swung against Beşiktaş in the final minute of the injury time as Quresma put the Portuguse representative 1-0 ahead for good.
