Besiktas Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team brought the first ‘‘Asırlık Çınarlar’’ Tournament cup home by overpowering traditional rival  Galatasaray Cafe Crown 83-72.

Starting the game with a first five made of Erkan Veyseloglu, Cevher Özer, Dalmau, Nicevic and Apodaca, Black & Whites, who looked ready for the league, staged an impressive performance that outclassed their rival from Istanbul early in the game. Back to back three point baskets by Cevher Özden put Beşiktaş 15-7 ahead 5:00 into the quarter. Spreading its superiority to the rest of the quarter, Beşiktaş Cola Turka widened the gap even further and entered final 2:00 with a commanding 26-12 advantage. Thanks to Cevher’s last minute outside shots that didn’t miss the target, Beşiktaş managed to close the first quarter 33-12 in the lead.   
In the second quarter, the solid play of Beşiktaş defense did not allow Galatasaray to get back into the game. The short scoring bursts by the Yellow & Red team to cut the deficit down were successfully countered by the Black & White Team as it entered the final two minutes 44-20 in front. Galatasaray, which didn't look ready for the league in comparison to Beşiktaş, continued to make simple but costly turnovers. Timely baskets by our new transfers, Apodaca and Dalmau gave Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Team a 49-30 comfortably lead at the half.
During the first 5:00 of the third quarter, Beşiktaş faced some difficulty in scoring against a defensively better organized Galatasaray. However, Galatasaray was unable to take advantage of its opponents this dry spell offensively and trailed 65-47 going into the final quarter.   
Thanks to a string of unanswered points from long range our Black & Whites kept the difference between the two teams around 20 points. Near to the end of the game, the Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team fielded its reserve players into the game and Galatasaray started to cut the deficit down. But Black & Whites managed to hold on to their lead and won the game comfortably (83-72). Black & Whites received the tournament Cup from the hands of Beykoz District Governor, Cengiz Gökçe. 
Following the derby victory, Besiktas Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team’s new Managing Director Hasan Bozkurter made these comments regarding the Black & White team’s recent pre-season performance: ‘‘We won 3 pre-season tournaments out of 5. We showed everybody what we can do in the league games this season. From now on, we expect all our fans come and support us at Akatlar Sports Saloon. We wish to be appreciated and respected by all basketball lovers regardless of whether they are in Turkey and Europe.’’  
Finally our new Coach Ergin Ataman wrapped it up: ‘‘No doubt, we are all excited about wining this tournament. Our defense and offense are improving every other day. Beşiktaş Cola Turka fans we’ll see a fighting and hustling team on the court. We are looking forward to win everything in front of us this season.’’
