Our Handball Team suffered a 45-22 loss at the hands of Danish Viborg in the second leg of the 1st preliminary round of the Champions League. Despite this loss which resulted in elimination from the giant’s league, Black & Whites will pursue their European dream in the EHF Cup.

The game played at BJK Süleyman Seba Sports Saloon, staged a head to head contest from early on. However Beşiktaş could not answer the goals coming from visiting Viborg’s fast paced attacks in time and started to fall behind. The goals coming from Oğuzhan and Ercan were not sufficient enough to lower the deficit as the Danish representative led 22-12 at the half.
At the start of the second half, Beşiktaş raised its tempo and tried to catch up with its opponent. But Viborg’s solid defensive performance prevented Black & whites from closing the gap. During the final 15 minutes of the game, visitors increased their advantage even more and posted a 45-22 victory at the final buzzard.
With this loss our Handball Team had to say farewell to Champions League.
However Beşiktaş still continues its European adventure by being qualified for the EHF Cup. Now, our Black & Whites will take on the Belarusian side, HC Victory Regia Minsk.  While the first leg will be played in Minsk on September 29-30, the second leg will take place in İstanbul on 6-7 October.
