Beşiktaş:1—Fenerbahçe: 2

Our football team lost 2-1 to Fenerbahçe in the Super Cup game of the past season. While our lone goal was scored by Bobo in the 20th minute, the captain of Beşiktaş received red card in the final minute of the game. The final played at Rhein Energie Stadium of German city Cologne was refereed by Fırat Aydınus.

The game was staged in an extremely hot weather. Our new Technical Director, Ertuğrul Sağlam watched the entire game in the stands because the discipline penalty he received last season. The devoted expatriate fans of Beşiktaş coming from all over Europe supported their team throughout the 90 minutes.
During the early part of the game, Fenerbahçe displayed a more attacking football. However, after successfully dispersing their traditional rival’s scoring attempts with timely defensive interventions, Black & Whites created their own chances. In an 12th minute attack Delgado’s brilliant shot exploded at the top post. Exactly 2 minutes later Fenerbahçe went 1-0 ahead with Deivid’s close range goal. Following this early goal, Beşiktaş increased its pressure in search of an equalizer. In the 20th minute, our new transfer Mehmet Yozgatlı stole the ball from Edu in the right wing and made a perfect cross to Bobo who was waiting unmarked inside the 18-yard line. Our Brazilian striker's splendid semi-volley shot defeated Fenerbahçe’s keeper and leveled the game. Since there was no additional scoring by both teams, the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
At the start of the second half Chilean International, Tello replaced İbrahim Akın. Both sides displaced a rather cautious performance, as Beşiktaş tested its opponent’s goal with long range shots. During 62nd minute Mehmet Yozgatlı was taken out due to injury and young Serdar Özkan entered the game in his place.
The late part of the game staged a real contest between both teams who desperately tried to go ahead. Unfortunately Black & Whites came empty handed from most of their chances and Kezman’s unexpected goal 5 minutes from time put Fenerbahçe 2-1 in front.
Following this goal, Koray Avcı was substituted for Can Erdem and in the 90th minute İbrahim Üzülmez was sent off with a rather harsh red card. Since there was not sufficient time to turn the game around, Beşiktaş could not squeeze in an equalizer and Fenerbahçe won the game 2-1.
