Beşiktaş signed a 4 year agreement with Chilean international Rodrigo Alvaro Tello.

During singning ceremony Tello said:  ‘‘although it’s been quite a short time, I’ve already realized the greatness of Beşiktaş’s community. I am thrilled to be here.’’
The signing ceremony in BJK Nevzat Demir Facilities’ Press Center was attended by the Head of our Football Branch, Mr. Celalelettin Kolot and Foreign Affairs Responsible, Mario Berk as Chilean footbaler put his signature under a 4 year contract.
Mentioning that Tello will provide a significant contribution to Beşiktaş, Mr Kolot added: ‘‘Tello is a valuable player we acquired from Sporting Lizbon. We have signed a 4 year agreement with him. His transfer made a big impact in Portugal. Our Transfer Committee has been watching him for quite a while. We have no doubt that he will be a great asset to our team.’’
Tello, on the other hand, pointed out the greatness of Beşiktaş community and said: ‘‘I am quite happy to be here. I believe, selecting Beşiktaş will be a right decison for my career. Despite of being here only a short period, I already realized that I came to an excellent club. I also think that having other Portuguese speaking players in the team will help performance a great deal.’’
Born in October 14, 1979, Tello got his professional license while playing for Universidad de Chile. After the end of his agreement with this club which also happened to be the only Chilean team he played for, he made his first transfer to Sporting Lisbon during the second half 2000-2001 season.
He wore Chilean National Team’s jersey 27 times and won a bronz medal at Sidney Olympics. He also achieved 2 Chiliean Championships together with 1 Portuguese Cup and 1 Portuguse Super Cup. In addition to these, he was part of the squad when Sporting Lisbon played in UEFA Cup final two seasons ago.
Describing himself as a technical player, The Chiliean international concluded: ‘‘I like aggressive football on the pitch. I consider myself as a complete left wing player. I use the whole line and take effective free-kicks from which I often score. However I only take free kicks when I am asked to so because I am also a team player.’’
