Beşiktaş Cola Turka:70 - Fenerbahçe:72

Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women's Basketball Team lost 72-70 to Fenerbahçe in the second game of the play-off final series at Akatlar.

Black& Whites had previously tied the series at 1-1 with a 74-73 victory over arch rivals in Caferağa last Thursday.

Both teams exchanged baskets during the early part of the game played in BJK Akatlar Sport and Culture Compleks. Despite of a cautious performance by both teams, Beşiktaş Cola Turka looked more active offensively as it carried a 24-16 commanding lead into the second period thanks to back to back baskets in closing minutes.

The second period of the game staged a tighter contest as Fenerbahçe’s defense were able to slow down Black & Whites's scoring attacks. Regardless of a 31-26 advantage created by Lovelace and Yasemin Horasan, visitors managed to stay in the game by well timed baskets from Brown and Nilay. Visiting yellow & dark blue eventually took advantage of Beşiktaş Cola Turka’s defensive errors and completed the first half 38-37 in front.

The defensive troubles of Black & Whites continued in the third period as Fenerbahçe built up an 8 point gap (47-39). Unable to find an immediate cure for letting down its defense, Black & Whites’ own shots were also off target. As a result of this sluggish overall performance Fenerbahçe’s lead grew to a 60-47 at the end of the third period.

In the fourth quarter, a more willing Beşiktaş Cola Turka pulled its act together and made a final run to get back into the game. Braxton’s consecutive baskets reduced the deficit to 2 points (64-62) with 4:45 to go. Backed by successful rebounding and aggressive defense, Sheri Sam leveled the score at 66-66 with 2: 18 left in the game. The remaining seconds staged a virtual thriller for both sides. Thanks to Sariye’s final minute basket Black & Whites were back in front again by single point (70-69). However, Fenerbahçe managed to regain the lead during final 30 seconds and won the game 72-70. This win put yellow and dark blue team 2-1 ahead in the playoff series.
