Visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team was outscored 80-73 by Galatasaray Café Crown in the second game of the semifinal playoff series.

Starting the game with a first five line-up consisting Barış Güney, Barış Özcan, Cevher Özer, McFarlin and Erkan Veyseloğlu, Beşiktaş Cola Turka scored the first basket of the game. Despite of Fatih Solak’s effective performance Black & Whites completed the first 5:00 with 9-7 ahead. Barış Özcan’s accurate shots taken from outside helped Beşiktaş Cola Turka to take a 4 point advantage at the end of the first period (22-18).

Black & Whites tried to extend their lead in the second period but were unable to do so because the home side not only tightened up its defense but also started to take advantage of Beşiktaş’s costly turnovers. As a result of this poor performance Galatasaray first leveled the score and then climbed 40-37 on top going into the locker room at the half.

The second half of the derby started with yellow and red team’s back to back baskets as Black & Whites managed to score only 3 points during the first 4:00 of the period. Meanwhile Galatasary slowly made it presence felt with in and outside scoring of Fitch and Fatih Solak who increased their team’s lead to 12 points at the end of the third period (61-48).

In the early part of fourth quarter the yellow and red home team maintained its superiority as it entered the final six minutes with 66-55 in front. However from this minute on, Beşiktaş Cola Turka started to get organized and scored consecutive 3 pointers which were all on target. A long range shot taken by Erdal behind the arch reduced the deficit to 3 points (72-69) with 2:00 to go in the game.

The final minute of the period staged a real thriller for Istanbul’s traditional rivals. At one point, Galatasaray saw its 75-71 lead brought down to a mere 2 points while both teams displayed an aggressive defense to gain a last second advantage over each other. But at the final buzzer the pendulum had swung Galatasary’s way once again as it posted a 80-73 victory and to take a 2-0 lead in the semifinal playoff series.
