Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team outscored visiting Botaş 89-64 in the last game of the semifinal play-off series which took place at Akatlar Sports Culture Complex and reached the Final to be played against Fenerbahçe next week.
Having started the game with Yasemin Horasan, Kara Braxton, Esmeral Tunçluer, Şebnem Kimyacıoğlu and, Sheri Sam line up, Black & Whites immediately moved in front thanks to early baskets scored from outside. Visiting Botaş didn’t get on the score board until 4 minutes into the period as Beşiktaş Cola Turka had opened up an early deficit in its favor with a 10-0 run during this period. Despite of Botaş’s late period offensive surge to reduce the gap between the two semifinalists, our Black & Whites Ladies managed to close out the first period with a 27-16 comfortable lead.Beşiktaş Cola Turka could not sustain this advantage in the second period and created unnecessary but costly errors. Adana representative cleverly took advantage of this poor performance of by our Ladies and succeeded in lowering the gap to 7 points with a series of accurate 3 pointers behind the arch 6:00 from the first half. As an outcome of a convincing defensive effort by visitors Black &Whites faced serious difficulty finding open shots while the rebound superiority of Botaş prevented Beşiktaş Cola Turka from getting second chance shots. Black Eagle still maintained a 4 point slim lead with 3:00 to go in the second period (35-31). But Botaş first reduced this gap to 2 points and then went ahead for the first time the game with a crucial 3 pointer (42-41). First half ended in a 42-42 tie.
During the third period Beşiktaş Cola Turka looked more effective as it reasserted its supremacy in the game with baskets scored from critical free throws and offensive rebounds. This impressive offensive play eventually was combined with a solid defense which limited Botaş’s scoring attempts from outside. Regardless of a last second 3 point shot half way from the court by Aylin, Beşiktaş Cola Turka grabbed a 63-59 lead going in to the decisive and final period.
Relying on an aggressive defensive performance, Black & Whites started to open up the deficit once again with key baskets from Kara Braxton. With addition of Yasemin Horasan’s productive performance Beşiktaş Cola Turka increased the deficit to 13 points with 6:00 to go in the game. Visitors tried to respond with Aylin and Taylor to get back into the game but their efforts were too little and too late as Black & Whites defeated their opponents 89-64 and moved on the final against arch rival Fenerbahçe.
