After recording a well earned 33-29 victory over Mersin Yenişehir Belediyesi on week before the end of regular season, Beşiktaş Handball Team has regained the CHAMPIONSHIP title following a one year break.

A special sound and light show was staged before the start of the game at BJK Süleyman Seba Sports Saloon as players were introduced to fans one by one.

Making its last attempt to obtain an advantage in the championship race, visiting Mersin Yenişehir Belediyesi displayed an effective start into game and led by 3 goals after the first 10 minutes. Facing a solid defense Black & Whites managed to reduce the deficit thanks to goals by Ramazan and Halilagiç (3-2). However ensuing defense troubles enabled the visitors to register a 5 goal commanding lead. But trailing Beşiktaş fought back with Cengiz Hatırnaz and Bülent Erkol who leveled the score at 1-1. And then Valeri put Black & Whites 13-12 ahead for first time in the game. From that point on both teams exchanged goals and went to locker room with a 16-16 tie.

Determined to win the game at all costs, Beşiktaş staged a more impressive offensve performance in the second half that eventually overcame the defensive resistance of visitors. As a result, Black &Whites entered the final 15 minutes with a 26-22 advantage. Thanks to Murat Güder’s brilliant goals during the final part of the game, Beşiktaş managed to preserve this lead and posted a 33-29 valuable victory which brought the championship title to Black & Whites one week before the end of the regular season.
