Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team had to say farewell to Tadım Turkish Cup after getting defeated 82-55 by Pınar Karşıyaka in the quarter final stage that took place at Antalya Dilek Sabancı Sports Saloon.
Our team started the game with a first five consisting of Azmi, Erkan, Barış, Levent and Cevher. As result of Karşıyaka’s better start, İzmir representative passed the 3rd minute 7-0 in the lead. Thanks to baskets by Barış Özcan and Levent Bilgin Black & Whites managed to fight back and jump 9-8 front after the first 4 minutes. However, when the ineffective defensive performance of Beşiktaş Cola Turka eventually combined with the accurate outside shots of Pınar Karşıyaka, the visitors made the score 13-19 in their favor and closed the period 19-24 ahead of their hosts.During the early part of the second period, Pınar Karşıyaka continued to assert its supremacy over Beşiktaş Cola Turca who played without Donnel Harvey and Aubrey Reese and immediately increased the deficit to 10 points within the first minute. The first basket of Black & Whites was scored by Levent Bilgin with 6:00 to go in the period. The visiting team went to the locker room holding an unsurmountable 18 point lead at the half time (48-30).
A series of well-timed baskets by Serhat and İnanç duo against a shorthanded Beşiktaş Cola Turka who could not stage a sufficient performance throughout the game widened the gap to 30 points in the third period with 5:00 to go. Successfully stopping all daring efforts of Beşiktaş Cola Turka to reduce the gap and get back into the game, visiting Pınar Karşıyaka comfortably led 72-40 going into final quarter.
Playing with mostly young reserves, Beşiktaş Cola Turka could not deliver its much needed baskets and tighten its defense against a well organized Egean line up in the fourth period as well. Entering into the final minute with a nearly 30 point advantage, Pınar Karşıyaka won the game 82-55 and eliminated Beşiktaş Cola Turka from this year’s Turkish Cup.
