Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team lost 82-81 to visiting Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi in its first play-off game of quarter final series at BJK Akatlar Sports and Culture Complex. With this score the series between two teams is tied at one win each (1-1).

Starting the game with their regular first five consisting of Yasemin Horasan, Lovelace, Sebnem Kimyacioglu, Esmeral Tunçluer and Kara Braxton, the Black& Whites did not look too impressive during the early minutes of this play-off game. Having difficulty offensively against a though defense, Beşiktaş Cola Turka found its first points in the 2nd minute and trailed 5-2 after the first three minutes. But from this minute on Black& Whites got organized and managed to jump ahead of its opponent with back to back baskets. At the end of the first period our Ladies were leading 18-13.   
Continuing to display the effective performance of the previous period, Beşiktaş Cola Turka preserved its lead for a long time. While Kara Braxton and Lovelace kept producing for Black& Whites from the painted area, the aggressive defense by Black & Whites prevented visitors from scoring. At one point Beşiktaş increased the deficit to 5 points in its favor  with  Sheri Sam, but supported by an efficient run of  fast breaks and accurate outside shooting  Mersin Belediyesi fought back and succeeded in regaining the lead  at the end of the first half (36-35).
The third period staged a real head to head struggle between two play-off contestants. Both teams tried to take a control of the game and at 5th minute of the period the score was tied (46-46). During this time Beşiktaş Cola Turka could not avoid Kristen’s baskets and relied mainly on shots taken from outside. As a result visiting team attained a 4 point advantage going into final period (61-57).
During the final period Mersin Belediyespor virtually dominated game. However, in spite of Kristen’s never-ending productive performance, Black & Whites were able to stay in touch with the score. But, our Ladies eventually started to lose their defensive game discipline and faced trouble getting baskets as their outside shots could not find the target. Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi took advantage of this dry spell and entered into 37th minute leading 76-73 but Lovelace’s timely basket leveled the game once again with 2 minutes left in the game (77-77).
The critical and costly errors of our Ladies during these final minutes prevented them from forging ahead. Beşiktaş Cola Turka trailed by 4 points with 20 seconds to go and thanks to tactical free throws it was able to reduce this gap to 1 point with 7 seconds left in the game. However, in spite of having the last scoring chance, the final shot of Black & Whites taken by Esmeral came off the rim and visiting Mersin Büyükşehir Balediyesi won the game with a score of 82-81 which leveled the play-off series at one each.
