Beşiktaş General Secretary Kenan Özer has answered reporters' questions regarding his team’s championship race and up coming Turkish Cup semifinal.

A summary of his responses is as follows:
‘‘No one should get offended and imply anything when our President says that he truly believes in finishing first at the end of the season. The recent statements made public by our president and board members are simply intended to motivate our team and community. Since they carry no other meaning, they must be regarded as natural for a team sitting in the second seat of the championship race. Therefore we have no intention of getting tangled with useless and harmful polemics and mind only our own business I also believe coming from behind has certain advantages and everybody is hearing our foot steps! But no should forget that we will stage this struggle for the final victory only on the green field and nowhere else. As we have done until today, we will try to win each and everyone of our game by honestly fighting on the pitch until the final whistle. Most will still remember the seasons during which we lost the championship in the final week and ended up with ‘'respectable second place'' finish. We have lived through those difficult times. Consequently, we can correctly and proudly claim that all our victories have been won honestly. And this year, with permission from God we will fight until the end and earn the first place with our head high.
   
As we had been expecting Çaykur Rizespor game turned out to be a difficult game. Despite our opponent’s critical position in standings, we worked harder and gained a most valuable 3 points. From now on all our games will be played under the atmosphere of a final. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel and all our players are fully aware of their responsibility. Since earning 3 points is more important for our final goal, no one should expect a good play on the field during our last games. We hope to win all remaining 7 games and finish first at the end of the season.
There has been some speculation regarding the date of this week’s game. Previously this game was scheduled for Friday but later on it was postponed to Sunday for some unknown reason. All we wanted to do was to play on the same day with our present Cup rival. I think this explains our position on this matter for all.’’
It is our duty to show our hospitality to Fenerbahçe team and its directors on Wednesday evening. But we will do everything on the field to make sure that we attain an advantage for the second leg.
Öner also answered the questions concerning the statement made by Fenerbahçe Board Member Mahmut Uslu;
‘‘This respectable Board Member of Fenerbahçe has made his well known remarks which usually blame others for Fenerbahçe's point loss. Whereas, if you follow our comments made public closely, you will notice that we solely talk about our own team and are not interested in what others do.’’
