Visiting Beşiktaş Football Team posted a 2-0 victory over Gençlerbirliği in the final game of the 26th week and stepped up its relentless chase for the top spot by raising its points total to 48. Mert Nobre (20th min.) and Adem Dursun (41st min. own goal) scored both Beşiktaş’s goals in this critical away game.

Black & Whites applied pressure on their opponents starting from the first whistle of the game. As an outcome of this overall effective play, Beşiktaş reached to its desired goal in 20th minute. Following İbrahim Toraman’s header that came off the post, Turkish-Brazilian Mert Nobre sent the ball into Gençlerbirliği’s net with a perfect bicycle kick and brought Beşiktaş 1-0 on top. During 38th minute Ali Tandoğan replaced Mustafa Doğan who sustained an unfortunate knee injury. Adem Dursun directed the cross coming from Koray Avcı into his own net in the 41st minute and increased Beşiktaş’s lead to two goals (2-0).
Relying on a two goal advantage, Beşiktaş displayed a much more cautious game in the second half and tried not to give away any scoring opportunity to its rival from Capital City. Mehmet Sedef (78th min.) and Fahri (87th min) entered the game for Delgado and Ricardinho. Since both teams could not change the score during the remainder of the game, Beşiktaş defeated powerful Ankara representative 2-0 and collected valuable 3 points.
With this away victory Black & Whites raised their points to 48 for the sole possession of second place  and continued their pursuit of the leader Fenerbahçe who not only has 54 points but also quite a few critical derby games to play.
