Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team outscored visiting İstanbul University 84 -59 in the 20th week of TBBL at BJK Akatlar Sports and Culture Complex.
During the early minutes of the period both teams exchanged baskets which kept the score close but a late basket by Gizem put the visiting green and yellow team 22-21 in front at the end of the period.Though Black & Whites staged a more effective performance at start of the second period, İstanbul University held on to its control of game. The consecutive baskets of visitor’s were backed with a solid defense and the productive plays by Lindsey and Serap enabled the green and yellow team to build an unexpected 10 point deficit in its favor at the end of the first half (40-30).
During the first three minutes of the period, Black & Whites staged and impressive offensive show and reduced the deficit to 4 points by scoring 8 unanswered points. Not repeating the defensive errors of the first half, this sudden offensive run of Black & Whites surprised the visitors while baskets by Lovelace, Yasemin Horasan and Sheri Sam gave the lead to Beşiktaş for good. Our Ladies managed to increase their advantage to 61-50 going into the final period.
Reflecting their positive offensive performance of the previous period into the fourth quarter as well, Beşiktaş Cola Turca this time tightened up its defense and limited the chances of the visitors to find any easy basket under their own rim. This effective defensive play and high percentage 3 pointer shots by Esra Erden increased the point gap in favor of Black & Whites even more. As a result, visiting İstanbul University had no other choice but to concede defeat while previously trailing Black & Whites Ladies registered a lopsided 84-59 victory at the end of the game and continued their undefeated run.
