Beşiktaş Wheeled Chair Basketball Team outscored visiting Cadbury Kent 65-43 at a game played in Süleyman Seba Sports Saloon in the 6th week of the League.
During the early minutes both teams exchanged baskets and visiting side went ahead briefly. But thanks to the baskets by Mehmet Arpak who dominated under the rim, Beşiktaş quickly erased the deficit and gained the lead. In spite of losing defensive control from time to time, Beşiktaş entered the 8th minute 14-8 in the front. The aggressive defensive play of Cadbury Kent was unable to stop Black and Whites who continued to score consistently that allowed them to close the first period 20-9 in the lead.In the second period, Beşiktaş started to increase this lead with extra points scored from the painted area. While also establishing superiority in rebounds, Beşiktaş Wheeled Chair Team took advantage of visiting Cadbury’s turnovers especially after the 14th minute. As a result of this effective performance home team entered into 17th minute with a score of 30-21. The high percentage outside shots gave Black and Whites a 6-0 run in the final 3 minutes. Beşiktaş went to locker room 36-23 in the front at the end of the first half.
During the first 3 minutes of the second half the strong defensive play of Black and Whites kept the visiting team away from scoring point and provided another 8-0 run for Beşiktaş. Black and Whites combined their effective defense and rebounding with productive fast breaks that increased the deficit in their favor even more. The period ended with 52-31 superiority of Beşiktaş. Going into the final quarter with more confidence, Black and Whites continued their fast attacks and kept the game under full control. Murat Akın’s assists and Mehmet Akın’s rebounds allowed Kaan Dalay to score more baskets which opened up a 25 point gap in the 35th minute of game (60-35). Beşiktaş eventually won the game with a commanding lead of 65-43.
