After the thrilling victory against Gran Canaria, the Administrative and Technical teams of Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team made these comments:

Head of Basketball Division, Yahya Kemal Gençer:
“Last year, we had to say farewell to the cup in the last period. This year we have an experienced team. Our coach has been managing the team for years. We have realized substantial investment into basketball during the presidency of Yıldırım Demirören. Now we are receiving their results and we shall continue to do so in the coming feature. It was important to defeat an established European team and carry the excitement into Turkey. Tonight, we share the pride and pleasure of achieving this success together with all of our community. We still have crucial games ahead of us but I strongly believe that this team will go a long way.”
Captain of Basketball Department, Şenol Demirağ:
“I think we have established a great victory today. It is not an easy job to come back from a 17 points deficit and attain an 18 points advantage. It was a result only teams like Beşiktaş could achieve. We are a better team than Gran Canaria. I am grateful to our fans. We recorded this historical win with their help. Since the start we are repeating that we will be champion in this country. I hope we will see those days as well. Meanwhile, I congratulate all of our players together with our administrative and technical units who made this victory possible. I also thank to our President, Yıldırım Demirören for his constant support.”
Coach of Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team, Aziz Akkaya:
“I have been telling all along that we are a good team. We thank to our President Yıldırım Demirören and Board of Directors. They have given us whatever we asked and they never withheld their support. I was indebted to them. We were aiming at the European Championship. It would be real upset to all of us if we were eliminated by this team. Let’s not forget that we played the first game after a 16 hour difficult road trip. Once we gathered enough information about our opponent we tightened up our defense. Our team believed in victory and performed effectively. I would like to thank to our fans who came here gave us their sincere support. Despite of a 17 point deficit they did not withhold their support. They say if you are patient you will achieve success at the end. For this reason, we will be patient and attain the championship title at the end of the season. I would like to thank to all of my players in front of you. They had a self-sacrificing training during the week and believed in victory.”
