Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women's basketball team grabbed a 71-59 derby victory over its traditional rival Galatasaray in the last week of TBBL's first half.

During the first minutes of game both teams displayed an aggressive defense. In the first 5 minutes two teams could only record a total of 12 points at the score was tied at 6. However, Galatasaray started to find some points with Smith and Moore duo under the basket and brought the score to 10-6 in favor yellow&reds. Beşiktaş Cola Turka came empty handed from many of its scoring attempts and committed back to back defensive errors wasting chances to go ahead. The first period was completed with 12-11 superiority of Galatasaray.

Second period started with exchanging baskets and Black&Whites went in front for the first time in the game. While both teams continued to stage their tough defenses, Beşiktaş took a 21-20 lead in the 16th minute. From that moment on Beşiktaş Cola started to be effective in the derby with Lovelace and Sheri Sam duo. Galatasaray at one point tied the game against Beşiktaş which led 26-23 in the 18th minute. However Beşiktaş was able to grab a 31-27 advantage while going to locker room at the end of the first half.

In the third period Galatasaray made a serious attempt to take back the lead. In spite of taking a temporary lead yellow&reds could not overcome the staunch defense of Beşiktaş Cola Turka. Beşiktaş of course, successfully took advantage this situation and started to score easy points against its opponent from inside and outside range. The third period was completed with 48-42 superiority of Black&Whites team.

In the final quarter of the game, Beşiktaş Cola Turka thanks to additional scoring power of Esmeral continued to dominate the play and opened up a commanding deficit in its favor. In the 33rd minute of the Black&Whites were leading 56-45. Due to Galatasaray’s futile attempts to reduce the deficit and get back into the game, Beşiktaş Cola Turka relaxed and displayed a controlled but equally productive performance that provided a 10 point advantage (66-56) entering into the final minute. As a result of giving away easy baskets under its own basket, Galatasaray lost its resistance and discipline in the game completely. At the final buzzard Beşiktaş Cola Turka won the derby game 71-59 and continued its winning series.
