Our Football Team faced Galatasaray for the third place of Efes Pilsen Cup 6 Football Tournament organized in Antalya. Our Black & Whites won the game 7-6 in a penalty-shootout and took the third place after the regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to a 90+1 minute goal by Nobre.

While the game was being played at a rather slow pace, Galatasaray went ahead 1-0 with Ümit Karan in the 9th minute. After the goal the game was locked in the mid-field and neither side was able to establish a substantial superiority over each other. Our Beşiktaş tried to level the score with long range shots but the first half ended 1-0 in favor of Galatasaray.
At the start of the second half Aydın Karabulut of Beşiktaş was replaced by İbrahim Akın. While the game continued to be played at first half’s tempo, Black & Whites displayed a better performance and had more control of the ball in this half of the game. While Nobre entered the game for Delgado in the 64th minute, Fahri Tatan left his place to Baki Mercimek in the 72nd minute. The wing attacks of our Team caused serious difficulties for Galatasaray defense which was unable to come out of its own field for a long time. As a result Black & Whites finally found their long awaited goal in the 90+1 minute with Nobre. He brilliantly directed Burak Yılmaz’s free-kick into Galatasaray net with a well timed header and made the score 1-1. When neither team was able to turn the game in their favor during the remaining regulation time, the game went into the penalty shootout. At the end of penalty kicks Beşiktaş defeated its traditional Istanbul rival 7-6 and completed the tournament in the third place.
