Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball team recorded a 78-58 victory over visiting Çankaya University in a game played at BJK Akatlar Sports and Culture Complex in the 8th week of TBBL.
Our Black&Whites started the game with Esmeral Tunçluer, Sheri Sam, Tuğba Palazoğlu, Lovelace and Masemin Horasan. During the early minutes of the game both sides exchanged baskets that kept the score close. After the 8th minute Beşiktaş Cola Turka started to open up the score in their favor. Effective fast breaks by Lovelace and Sheri Sam duet provided an 8 point advantage to our Ladies who continued to pressure the opposing defense until the end of the period Beşiktaş warpped up the first period with a 24-13 lead.Staging an impressive defensive performance under their own basket that did not give any scoring chances to visiting Ankara representative. Black&Whites forced their opponents to take outside shots. After the first 5 minutes, Çankaya Universtiy started to reduce the point spread between the two sides. At one point Beşiktaş’s advantage was reduced to 4 points (33-29). Meanwhile, visiting team also put up an effective defensive effort in this period. High percentage fre throws of Çankaya produced extra points and as a result Beşiktaş Cola Turka. Women’s Basketball Team completed the first half with only a 1 point (36-35).
However, our Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball team started the second half with a better organized defensive performance and did not give any scoring chance to Çankaya University in the first 4 minutes. During this period, our ladies also had a 8-0 run. Lovelace’s brilliant play under the rims produced easy baskets for Beşiktaş who grabbed a 12 point lead the end ended of the third period with 55-43 score.
Beşiktaş Cola Turka gained total superiority in the final quarter and dominated their opponent. Despite of a widening scoring gap our Black&Whites did not lose their game discipline especially in defense. When the visiting sidte’s attempts to score did not provide any points, Beşiktaş Cola Turka won the game with a commanding lead of 78-58 that registered another victory for our ladies in the 8th week of TBBL.
