At the 3rd week of TBBL (Turkish Basketball League), our Beşiktaş Cola Turca Women’s Basketball Team who hosted Adana representative Botaşspor in the BJK Akatlar Sport and Culture Complex defeated their opponents with a score of (80-73).
Starting the game with Esmeral Tunçluer, Yasemin Horasan, Tuğba Palazoğlu, Lovelace and Sam first five, Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women's Team spent the early minutes of the game by responding the visiting team's baskets. Botaş took advantage of the scoring opportunities and entered into the 5th minute (11-8) in front thanks to the points of Trapp. During the first period which displayed exchanging points by both sides, visiting Botaş had the better of the game. Our Black and Whites could not impose superiority on their rivals because of simple mistakes. Despite of a (13-13) tie at the 8th minute, Botaş closed the period (19-17) in front with back to back baskets which gave them 5 extra points.The last period of the first half started similar to the previous one. Unable to gain superiority in rebounds under both baskets against visiting team and wasting chances to convert turnovers into baskets, our Women’s Team began to get organized after the 13th minute. As a result, after taking the lead (25-23) at the 15th of the game, Esra Erden’s 3 point shot put Beşiktaş Cola Turka ahead (28-23). With the addition of young Esra from the bench, Our Black and Whites started to change the score to their advantage and her 2 back to back 3 point shots opened up a 13 point difference between the two teams at the 17th minute (40-27). Extra points by Tuğba and Lovelace gave our side a complete control of the game and Beşiktaş Cola Turka, thanks to their perfect performance in the second part of the period went into the locker room with a lead of (42-31) at the half.
Taking things easy due to the score advantage gained at the last 5 minutes of the earlier period Beşiktaş did not allow their opponents to come near to them. Black and Whites answered the visiting team’s points with the baskets of Lovelace and Yasemin Horasan. However Botaş made a last effort and closed the gap in the final 2 minutes of the period with baskets from Mosch and Trapp. Nevertheless, Adana representative couldn’t resist Beşiktaş’s scoring at end and the period was completed with (63-55) superiority of Başiktaş Cola Turca.
Beginning the final period more aggressively, Botaş despite of reducing the difference to 4 points at one time could not stop Lovelace. However the visiting Blue and White would not give up the game and kept pressurizing our team with effective attacks. The scoring difference was only 5 points in the final minute of the game. During these exciting minutes, our women’s side showed a strong resistance against their opponent’s scoring and protected its lead with critical points scored at crucial times. Entering into the last 30 seconds (75-73) in front, Beşiktaş found additional 5 points and destroyed the hopes of Botaş’s for winning the game. The final score of this hard fought game was (80-73) in favor of our Beşiktaş Cola Turka.
Lovelace was the highest scorer of the game with 23 points. The other scorers were Yasemin Horasan (12), Şebnem Kimyacıoğlu (12), Tuğba Palazoğlu (10), Esra Erden (9), Sam (8) and Esmeral Tunçluer (6).
