CSKA Sofia:2 Beşiktaş:2

After having defeated CSKA Sofia (2-0) at  the first leg of UEFA Cup first round, Beşiktaş tied the replay in Sofia (2-2) and moved on to the group stages of the tournament. Our goals were scored by Nobre and Bobo in extra time of this exciting game whose regular time ended (2-0) in favor of CSKA Sofia.

Refereed by Dutch Dick Van Egmond, the match was played under heavy rain and nearly 1000 Besiktaş fans supported their team throughout the away game. The early minutes were a typical mid field struggle and at 18th minute Kleberson was replaced with Serdar Kurtuluş after injuring his shoulder. While our Black and Whites had a complete control of the game, the host CSKA had only two threatening changes in the first 45 minutes. Especially Nobre and Bobo put serious pressure on the opposing defense but were unable to score. The first half ended without any side scoring (0-0).   
Having a two goal advantage from the first game, Beşiktaş started the second half with Ali Tandoğan in place of Burak Yılmaz. At the 60th minute, Valentine Ilie sent the ball coming from a free-kick into the Beşiktaş net with his head and home team went ahead (1-0).
After Bobo's substitution for Gökhan Güleç at 63rd minute, CSKA made it (2-0) with Tunchev’s header from another free-kick at 69th minute. CSKA tried to increase the score but the game was completed (2-0) in favor of home team. Since Beşiktaş won the first leg I Istanbul with the same score the game went into a 30 minute extra time.      
Playing with more courage, Beşiktaş brought the score to (2-1) with Nobre’s brilliant header coming from a corner-kick at the 93rd minute. Then Bobo took the center stage. Chasing a long ball throne behind the CSKA defense, technically gifted Bobo passed the keeper and dribbled the ball into the empty net of CSKA at 103rd minute of this hard fought game (2-2). There was no additional goal in the game and with this result Beşiktaş successfully reached to the group stages of UEFA Cup.
