Our Beşiktaş beat CSKA Sofia 2-0 at the first game of UEFA Cup. Our goals were scored by Kleberson (82nd min.) and Gökhan Güleç (90+2nd min.).
Played under the great atmosphere of BJK İnönü Stadium, the fans as usual created another full house and supported their team until the last minute of the game. The early part of the game was a typical mid-field struggle and Beşiktaş pressured CSKA defense with Bobo in the first 15 minutes. During this period CSKA tried o be effective with long passes thrown behind our defense but often caught in off-side. During the ensuing minutes, Beşiktaş took control of the game and virtually imprisoned CSKA in their defensive area. While Bobo couldn’t capitalize on a penalty shot at 36th minute, Mehmet Sedef’s 38th minute perfect shot went out after hitting the cross-bar. The first half ended with neither team scoring (0-0).Before starting the second half, the fans called our team near to the stands and tried to bolster their morale. In the second half, Beşiktaş put more pressure on CSKA defense for an early goal. Delgado was replaced by Ricardinho who added an extra power on the 55th minute of the game. Petrov of the Bulgarian team was shown red card and sent off after receiving two consecutive yellows (67th min). İbrahim Akın (70th min.) and Gökhan Güleç (75th min.) came into the game for the replacements of Mehmet Sedef and Bobo. During the last part of the game kept attacking from both sides of the field and finally scored with Kleberson’s hard shot at 82nd minute of the game (1-0). After the goal Beşiktaş didn’t stop and as a result added another goal at (90+2nd min.) with Gökhan Güleç. The match ended (2-0) in favor of our Black and Whites.
