Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team lost against Efes Pilsen (80-63) in the last game of the semi final series and said farewell to the play offs with a series score of 3-2. The game was played at Abdi İpekçi Sports Hall.
Efes Pilsen, making a fast start to the game, scored its first point thanks to the 3-pointer by Domercant, whereas Beşiktaş Cola Turka was generous to waste the first minute opportunities. Black & White players scored points also by utilizing the free throws later in the game , trimmed the 5-point gap and leveled the score (7-7) at the beginning of the fifth minute. Efes Pilsen was again effective in the outer shots and regained the lead with 3-pointers and increased the gap to 12 points thanks to Smith (25-13) and wrapped up the first quarter 25-14 in the lead.Mithat Demirel scored a 3-pointer for Beşiktaş Cola Turka early in the second quarter whereas Beşiktaş displayed a more effective performance in defense even though it was not better than its rival. Black & White team had much difficulty performing under the rim in this period. Charles Smith from Efes Pilsen took good advantage of the mistakes made by Beşiktaş Cola Turka and increased the deficit even more; but Black & White team scored some critic points with one minute remaining and cut the margin down to 8 points. Efes Pilsen finished the period 39-31 leading.
Efes, keeping its strength that it had in the beginning of the game, did not have difficulty warding off the attacks our team made around the rim. Our rival, scoring points out of free throws and having high percentage of scoring 3-pointers, wrapped up the 6th minute 47-35 leading. Beşiktaş Cola Turka, trying to score points vigorously at 28th minute, trimmed the gap down to 6 points (47-41) and had leveled the chances of winning the game. However, Black & White team returned empty handed in two attacks in a row with 30 seconds to play and Efes Pilsen completed the third period 49-43 leading.
The last quarter began with Efes Pilsen scoring points in a row. Black & White team, unable to pass the rival’s defense no matter what, continued making mistakes in its own defense; whereas Efes Pilsen increased the gap again and continued its lead (66-54) at 36th minute. Domercant and Smith continued scoring 3-pointers for Efes Pilsen. Even though Beşiktaş Cola Turka was able to trim the gap from time to time, Efes Pilsen posted an 80-63 triumph over Beşiktaş and made the finals.
