Beşiktaş Women’s Basketball Team posted a 75-55 victory over İstanbul University Sports Club in the first game of the play off semi finals, and took a 2-0 lead in the series that it had started with 1-0 ahead.
Both teams returned empty handed from their attacks in the first few minutes. Beşiktaş Cola Turka was 8-2 in the leading in 5th minute. Black & White players performed better in rebounds and widened the gap thanks to Şebnem Kimyacıoğlu and Yasemin Horasan. Beşiktaş Cola Turka wrapped up the first period 22-10 leading.Defensive play was more dominant in the second period just as the first one. Black & White players scored points through shots from outside; whereas İstanbul University Sports Club tried to score from under the rim. Beşiktaş Cola Turka spoiled its rival’s balance in the game thanks to Mactebene’s successful performance inside and went to the locker room 42-22 in the lead.
Second half began with points scored by both teams, contrary to the first half. Stacey Thomas and Işıl Alben scored points in a row for the University Team and decreased the gap by recording 11 points in the first 5 minutes. Black & White players regained control of the game and scored points in fast attacks. Beşiktaş Cola Turka wrapped up the third period 57-39 ahead.
Black & White team played comfortably in the last quarter and scored points by outer shots. Beşiktaş won the game 75-55 and got 2-0 ahead in the play offs semi final series. Thus, Beşiktaş had a great advantage on the way to the finals.
