2006 Chess Championship of Turkey took place in Istanbul. Beşiktaş’s new transfer Mikhail Gurevich reached the championship whereas Umut Atakişi took the third and Yakup Ertan the seventh place. 

Mikhail Gurevich whom we had recently transferred became the Champion of Turkey in the 2006 Chess Championship of Turkey the sponsor of which had been Pendik Municipality by passing Suat Atalik by 10.5 points in the final. The Manager of the Chess Branch and our player, on the other hand, took the third place with 9 points. Our other player Yakup Erturan also took the seventh place with 6.5 points.
