Beşiktaş was hosted by Efes Pilsen in the game that brought two candidates for the championship in Turkish Basketball League. Black & White players defeated their strong rivals 73-71 in the super game played at Abdi İpekçi Sports Hall, and added one more victory to its credit.
Black & White team, which was the visitor side in the most important game of the week in Turkish Basketball League, performed better than its opponent in the first period. Black & White team wrapped up the first quarter 26-16 leadingBoth teams preferred a less risky performance in the second period. Even though Efes Pilsen tried to trim the gap, Beşiktaş did not allow that. Beşiktaş, being in the lead 33-24 at 15th minute, did not give any chance to its opponent in the defense rebounds. Black & White players, keeping the 10 point deficit and sometimes widening the gap in the second quarter, maintained its defense discipline and did not allow its rival to score. Beşiktaş continued its effective performance in offense and went to the locker room 40-30 in the lead.
Black Eagle had hard time scoring in the first moments of the second half. Coming back empty handed from the attacks, Beşiktaş continued its successful defense and maintained the gap. Following minutes proved to be easier to score at the rival’s rim for Black & White players, which increased the gap up to 15 for a while. The tempo of the third quarter was no match for the first half. Efes Pilsen tried to stop Kimani Ffriend, one of the most scorer players in the game, with fouls in this quarter. Beşiktaş player, scoring points in most of the foul shots that he made, played a great role in Beşiktaş’s lead in the third quarter. Beşiktaş wrapped up that period 47-55 leading.
Last part of the game was full of excitement. Black & White team was in 68-58 lead at 37th minute; however, Efes Pilsen took control of the game after that minute. Blue & White team began closing the gap by points scored one after another, took a deep breath as Kerem Tunçeri received his 5th foul at 38th minute, and reduced the gap down to 6 points at 38th minute. Efes Pilsen leveled the score at 71-71 with 27 seconds to go in the game thanks to points scored by the young player Cenk Akyol. Ender Aslan, fouling Kiami Ffriend, determined the breakage point of the game. Kiami Ffriend, Star of the day, did not have difficulty scoring when he threw the foul shot and Black & White team posted a 73-71 triumph over its strong rival at Abdi İpekçi Hall.
