Beşiktaş Cola Turka:73 Tuborg Pilsener:67

Beşiktaş Cola Turka hosted Tuborg Pilsener in the BJK Akatlar Sports & Culture Complex and grabbed a 73-67 triumph over its rival in the 20th week of the Turkish Basketball League.

The Black & White team had Kerem Tunçeri, Tyron Ellis, Barış Özcan, Michael Wright, and Kimani Ffrined in the top five when the game began. Both teams scored points in the first few minutes, but Tuborg Pilsener began scoring points in a row by Triana from inside and outside in the following minutes and took the lead at the 6th minute (16-11). Beşiktaş Cola Turka, trying to trim the gap thanks to efforts by Barış Özcan, began scoring points by Wright at the rival rim. The Black & White players reduced the gap down to 2 points with one minute to play in the first quarter, wrapped up the period 20-16 tracking since the İzmir representative scored 2 points in 4 fault shots in 25 seconds.
 
Beşiktaş Cola Turka, trying to trim the 7-point deficit by the attacks it developed in the beginning of the second period, decreased the gap to 3 points at the 16th minute thanks to Wright and Ellis scoring points one after another. Tuborg pushed Beşiktaş by effective performance of Triana, and tied the score at 37-37 thanks to points scored by Ellis and Wright duo in the final minutes. All-star performance by Ellis in that minute put Beşiktaş ahead for the first time in the game. Beşiktaş Cola Turka got ahead (39-37) after the 2-pointer with 47 seconds to play and wrapped up the first half 41-37 leading.
The team from İzmir, trying to reduce the gap, organized dangerous attacks at Beşiktaş Cola Turka rim in the first minutes of the second half. The Black & White players kept their lead over their rivals thanks to the balls carried inside by Kerem Tunçeri. Beşiktaş Cola Turka increased the gap up to 7 points at one time and was in the lead 49-42 at 26th minute and 30th second. Tuborg did not break away from the game thanks to the 3-pointers scored by Hakan at critical moments, and was able to reduce the gap to maximum 3 points. Both teams implemented hard defense. The Black & White team was able to stop Triana, the most scorer Tuborg player, and did lot let him score as many as he had in the first half. Beşiktaş Cola Turka scored points in a row thanks to Mithat Demirel and Wright with less than one minute to play, and the third period was ended with 59-50 Beşiktaş Cola Turka leading.
Tuborg attacked even harder in the last period. The Black & White players took advantage of the mistakes its rival made in defense and increased the gap to 13 points. Beşiktaş Cola Turka determined the breakage points in the game with points it scored from inside and outside in critical moments, defeated Tuborg that had an upward trend and not lost any game in recent weeks (73-67).
While the most scorer player of the day was Michael Wright with 28 points in his credit, other players scored as follows: Tyron Ellis (12), Kimani Ffriend (10), Kerem Tunçeri and Barış Özcan (8 points each) and Mithat Demirel (2).
Coach Murat Didin, making a statement for our internet site after the game, said that they had established the defense after the first period and added “We turned the game around to our advantage thanks to superb performance by Wright.
