Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team lost against Darüşşafaka in the last game of the first half at the opponent’s field with a basket scored in the last second (78-77).
Making a start into the game with a basket scored by Rodney Elliot, Beşiktaş Cola Turka scored series of points in the first few minutes and took the lead over its opponent. Host team Darüşşafaka balanced the game thanks to Kelvin Gibbs and Clarance Gilbert and took the lead. Darüşşafaka took a 16-15 lead in the first period which was very close.Beşiktaş Cola Turka made a fast start in the second period with baskets scored by Kimani Ffriend and Michael Wright, but displayed a performance which was below what it had wanted due to the mistakes made. Both teams played an open game with fast attacks in the quarter which the host team wrapped up with a 37-36 lead.
Darüşşafaka had the control of the game in the first part of the second half also. The Green-White players, who tried to score under the rim and with outer shots thanks to Gilbert and Lyon, increased the gap to 6 points against Beşiktaş Cola Turka which kept coming back from its attacks empty-handed. Host team, which was 56-50 in lead in the last 3 minutes of the third period, could only score 2 points after that moment. Beşiktaş Cola Turka took the lead against its opponent with the 2-pointer scored by Tyrone Ellis in the last second and carried a 59-58 cushion into the last period.
The last part of the game was like a thunder in the full sense of the word. Beşiktaş Cola Turka scored a 7-0 performance in the first two minutes of the last period thanks to Ellis and Barış, and increased the gap to 8 points (66-58). However, Darüşşafaka responded with a 10-0 performance thanks to Gilbert, Lyons and Mehmet, and regained its lead with 68-66. Teams scored baskets, and 2 seconds to play, Gibbs scored a difficult 3-pointer and thus Darüşşafaka grabbed a 78-77 victory over Beşiktaş Cola Turka.
