Queluz Sintra:92 Beşiktaş Cola Turka:75

Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team lost against Queluz Sintra from Portugal in an away game which was its 8th game in Group C of ULEB Cup, and made it very hard to advance to the next round (92-75).

Beşiktaş Cola Turca began the game with first 5 players consisting of Tyrone Ellis, Michael Wright, Kerem Tunçeri, Mithat Demirel and Rodney Elliott. Hosting team made a good start into the game and scored points in a row. Thanks to great performance of Kerem and Wright, Black & White players trimmed the gap which had gone up to 5 points; but even though they took the lead, they could not organize a good defense. Beşiktaş Cola Turca, which used the attack opportunities it had poorly, also could not stop outer shots by Queluz Sintra; and Q. Sintra took the lead in the first quarter (26-17).
Starting the second quarter with a point scored by Wright, the Black & White team could not stop the points scored through the outer shots of the opponent team, and the gap widened in the first few minutes. Even though Elliot and Özcan joined the team, weakness in defense did not allow trimming of the gap. Queluz went to the locker room with a 43-34 lead.
Both teams lost balls in the beginning of the 3rd period. Beşiktaş Cola Turca scored points thanks to successful performance of Wright. Visitor team organized the offense and used its superiority under the rim. Portuguese team replied with Brown to the points scored by Tolga Tekinalp and Elliot. In addition to the bad offense in the last minutes, simple mistakes made by Beşiktaş Cola Turca lead to 3-pointer punishments by Queluz Sintra. The period ended with the Portuguese team leading 65-52.
While Queluz Sintra was again effective with the outer shots made in the last quarter, Beşiktaş Cola Turca could not trim the gap no mater how hard it tried. Beşiktaş Cola Turca left the Hall 92-75 tracking and made it very hard to go to the next round.
