V. Guimaraes: 1 Beşiktaş: 3

Beşiktaş posted a 3-1 victory over Vitoria SC Guimaraes in the away game which was its last one in Group H in the UEFA Cup. However, being at the 4th place with 5 points at the end of the group games, the Black & White team said farewell to the UEFA Cup.

While the spectators of the hosting team did not show much interest in the game played at Afonso Henriques Stadium, expatriate Beşiktaş fans did not leave Beşiktaş by itself again and supported the Black & White players with their cheers. Ailton, who got sick during the trip to Portugal, was not included in the team as a result of the co-decision of the Technical Staff and the Health Staff due to his failure to be completely ready. Beşiktaş kicked off the game.
While Beşiktaş took the lead at minute 7 thanks to the goal scored by İbrahim Toraman and began the game with a goal to its credit, Saganowski of Guimaraes made the score 1-1 at minute 11. After that, the Black & White players took the lead again at minute 17 with the goal scored by Souleymane Youla; and the first half of the game wrapped up with 2-1, Beşiktaş being in the lead.
Veysel Cihan replaced Ahmed Hassan at minute 58 of the game. İbrahim Toraman came on the scene again at minute 60 and scored the goal putting Beşiktaş 3-1 in the lead. Technical Director Jean Tigana replaced Sergen Yalçın with Tümer Metin at minute 62 and Youla with Daniel Pancu at minute 84. Since there was not any goal scored in the rest of the game, Beşiktaş wrapped up the game 3-1 leading. However, the Black & White team, which increased its point to 5, could not make the top 3 and finished its group in the 4th place and thus said goodbye to the UEFA Cup.
