Beşiktaş Technical Director Jean Tigana made the following statement following the derby game:
“I am very sorry for the defeat. We played the way we wanted to in the first half of the game and consequently scored goals, whereas in the second half, we locked ourselves into our field which we had not wanted to. Then, we left the field defeated because of the goals we received as a result of the pressure applied. Everything aside, I have never allowed any one of my players to have a talk with the referees. Unfortunately today, I have to speak up. I have experienced a first in my 30-year of football career. I was not allowed by the 4th referee to replace a player even though I had wanted to. Something like that has never occurred anywhere in the world. Also, the referee used all his discretions in favor of the opponent team. He did not show any cards despite the many aggressive moves by our opponent. “
