In the 3rd week of the UEFA Cup Group H, which Beşiktaş did not play with any team, while Zenit grabbed a 2-1 victory over Sevilla in Russia, Guimaraes tied with Bolton (1-1) in Portugal.

Beşiktaş, which tied 1-1 with Bolton Wanderers in İstanbul and lost 3-0 against Sevilla in Spain, did not play in the 3rd week. In the games played in the Group in the 3rd week; the Russian team Zenit grabbed a 2-1 triumph over Sevilla in a game played at its home thanks to goals scored by Aleksandr Kerzhakov at 11th and 89th minutes. Antonio Puerto scored the goal fro Sevilla in the extended time.
Whereas in the game played in Portugal, Vitoria de Guimaraes took the lead at the 86th minute of the game, which was tied for a long time, thanks to the goal scored by Saganowski. The joy that the home team felt lasted only for 2 minutes, Bolton Wanderers tied the score 1-1 at 88th minute, thanks to the goal scored by Vaz Te; and since there was no more goal scored in the rest of the game, the teams left the field with one point each.
