Beşiktaş Football Director Gordon Milne, who was watching the training of the A Junior Team at Fulya Şan Ökten Facilities, and receiving information from Bahattin Baydar, Administrative Manager in Charge of Organization of Own Sources, and Tekin Aslıhan, Coach of the A Junior Team, made the following statements for our web site.
Gordon Milne, the British football technician who was assigned as the Beşiktaş Football Director, said that his greatest objective in Beşiktaş is to raise football players of high quality and added “We recognize that there have been great advancements in Beşiktaş with respect to both sportive activities and facilities since my assignment here. This progress has to continue so that the Club can reach the European standards. Moreover, the club has to pay attention to the infrastructure in order to progress in football. We are here to ensure that.”Stating that he could not thoroughly review the Infrastructural Teams just yet, Milne said that he wanted to examine in detail all working units which are related with football here, and said “We will continue our work as a team work together with the personnel involved in the infrastructural activities.”
Milne said that they will win the PAF Team players who from time to time train with the A Team by including them in the new system that he would implement, and added “As far as I see, some of the players in the infrastructure have great quality. We would like to include the players who train with the A Team into the system which we will be set up and prepare them for the professional team.”
Milne commented on the news about him, published at some of the media organs and said “I am not interested in such speculations. I came here to continue with the victories and successes which we had with Beşiktaş. I am here and working to serve Beşiktaş. I will do my best for that purpose.”
Gordon Milne underlined that there was no problem between Jean Tigana, the Technical Director of the A Football Team, as it was claimed in the same news, said that Tigana and his assistants were very professional and believed that they would be very successful at Beşiktaş. Milne stated that he had met with Tigana when the French Technical Director coached Fulham and added “He knows the British school in football. Therefore we get along great with him. We are not having any problems now. We both are not interested in the news which appears on the media.”
